Project Meeting & 1. Doctoral Workshop
From 1st to 3rd of September 2016 the DEMIS team met in Oldenburg for their annual workshop and doctoral colloquium. During the first day, project management issues were discussed and current research was presented to the African guests. A guided tour at CEWE Stiftung & Co. KGaA, a guided city tour and the dinner completed the first meeting day. The second day was structured in sessions, were each potential supervisor and doctoral student gave a presentation about his research. For the last day a team building event was organized – an excursion to the world heritage Wadden Sea.

Doctoral Students are selected!
After evaluating the submitted applications carefully, the doctoral students were selected. All proposed PhD topics are very suitable for the DEMIS network.

The DEMIS project team is proud to offer 9 positions for doctoral students to become a member of the recently established PhD network named Doctoral Education in EMIS. The call for applications is available for download.

EMIS Subsahara: new lectures
Within our sister project EMIS Subsahara the new dates for lecturing are fixed. All lectures will be given in person at Universidade Pedagógica, Mozambique.
DEMIS kick-off meeting
On February 27th, 2015 the DEMIS kick-off meeting took place in Oldenburg, Germany. During the kick-off meeting the current state of doctoral education was presented per partner. Regarding the intended doctoral degree program different decisions have been made. The project will provide support for 9 doctoral students. Each doctoral student will be provided with a supervision tandem including a local as well as an external (or foreign) supervisor. Per doctoral student the DEMIS project will cover the expenses for visiting all partner institutions as well as attending colloquiums organized by the DEMIS project team.
DEMIS project approved!
Today the contract arrived and as a result all project activities can start. Within the project’s runtime the project team will organize an international doctoral degree program and network in the field of environmental management information systems. One of the first action items is to prepare the kick-off meeting. The meeting will take place in Oldenburg, Germany at the end of February 2015. More information about the objectives, partners, funding, etc. will be available soon.
